Darmstadt, January 17, 2005. „Building in an energy-conscious way“ – this is the motto of Bayer Sheet Europe for 2005. The company is adding two new sheet geometries to its Makrolon® multi UV product portfolio. As all other multi types, the new geometries have outstanding thermal insulation properties, making them a good fit for large transparent surfaces in residential as well as public and industrial buildings. „Adding new geometries to optimize our Makrolon® multi UV range is our prompt response to the requirements of the market,“ says Volker Benz, Project Engineer at Bayer Sheet Europe. „Now we can offer an even bigger choice of sheet thicknesses which are suitable for different applications in private and industrial buildings,“ he adds. Especially in times of increasing energy costs, it is important for building owners to be able to achieve good insulation with transparent construction materials. With their excellent thermal insulation, the Makrolon® multi UV sheets are perfectly tailored to meet this requirement. Whether it’s large-scale transparent surfaces in roofs or façades of office buildings, or the construction of winter gardens and sun rooms – the Makrolon® multi UV product range offers the right polycarbonate sheet for each project. The Makrolon® multi UV 4/10-6 sheet is only 10 millimeters thick yet has an Ug factor of 2.5 W/m²K. It provides excellent thermal insulation and is more economical than other conventional double-layer and triple-layer sheets. Another advantage is the high resistance against deflection, which is reached by the special „Y“ shape, and a smaller space between the individual layers of the sheet. The sheets not only feature high rigidity but they are also extremely impact resistant and withstand heavy impact such as hail. It is the ideal material for transparent sheets in industrial applications, tunnel vaults, and façades. With the new geometry Makrolon® multi UV 5X/32-25 Bayer Sheet Europe expands its product range of X structures. In addition to thicknesses of 16 and 25 millimeters a sheet with 32 millimeters thickness is now also available. Compared to competitors’ products, the 5X/32-25 sheet is roughly 100 grams lighter per square meter. It is also extremely economical, and its prime insulation properties make it a good choice for all sorts of private building projects. In the IQ-Relax type, yet another variety of the sheet, the thermal insulation is combined with efficient reduction of the indoor temperature in hot weather, but without reducing the amount of light coming in. The intelligent construction material is the perfect fit for conservatories or closed gazebos, creating a pleasant indoor temperature. Already in 2004, Bayer Sheet Europe alerted its distribution partners about the market launch of the new Makrolon® multi UV geometries and supplied them with product samples. „We received very positive feedback from our distributors“, says Dr. Volker Benz and adds, „As the sheets reflect the latest technological developments and optimally support energy-conscious construction, we share the view of our partners that the new geometries will be a big success in the market.“ |
